Math 142: Calculus I


General Information, Syllabus, Assessment and Test Dates

Undergraduate Catalog Description: Elementary functions; differentiation and integration from geometric and symbolic viewpoints; limits, continuity; applications. Pre-requisite: 4 years of highschool mathematics or a grade of "C-" or better in Math 141.

Course Goals

  1. Develop a thorough understanding of the concepts and techniques of calculus.
  2. Develop the ability to apply your knowledge of calculus to solve unfamiliar problems.
  3. Develop skills for working effectively with others on mathematics problems.

Chapter 2: Key Concept: The Derivative
Chapter 3: Short Cuts to Differentiation
Chapter 4: Using the Derivative
Chapter 5: Key Concept: The Definite Integral
Chapter 6: Constructing Antiderivatives
